San Miguel Wins Four Anvil Awards

San Miguel Corporation received four awards—including a Bronze Anvil Award—in two categories (Tools of PR and PR Program) during the 41st Anvil Awards of the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) last February 17. SMC won Anvil Awards of Excellence for its employee video news SMC Newsbreak and internal publication Kaunlaran, and an Anvil Award of Merit for its Hanapbuhay, Habangbuhay Community Entrepreneurship Program. From the awardees of Excellence for Tools of PR, SMC Newsbreak was among the three chosen for a Bronze Anvil Award. SMC Newsbreak is an internally-produced, 8-12 minute weekly video news with employees as anchors and field reporters. It provides San Miguel employees with information on the Company’s financial performance, management initiatives, product launches, community projects, and employee achievements. Kaunlaran is SMC’s monthly newsletter for its employees and friends. Kaunlaran’s circulation of 14,000 copies cascade organizational developments to San Miguel’s workforce of 28,000 through its network of production facilities and sales offices in the Philippines, China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Australia.

Hanapbuhay, Habang-buhay helps communities adjacent to San Miguel facilities start small businesses through financial loan services such as one-year interest-free loans and support services like business consultancies, setting up of financial records, and effective project management. For its pilot year, 13 project proposals nominated by SMC facilities across the country were approved. The beneficiaries include women, out-of-school youth, fisherfolks, barangay leaders, religious groups, and retirees.
