Belgium-based Monde Selection Awards recently announced that San Miguel Brewery Inc.’s Cerveza Negra has made it to their worldwide selection of products to receive a prestigious citation.
In a correspondence, Monde Selection’s Vice President Florence de Halleux informed SMB Inc. that the rich dark lager produced by the company since 1890, has won the International High Quality Trophy for the 2009 World Selection.
By winning another gold medal this year together with sister brands San Miguel Pale Pilsen and San Miguel Premium All-Malt Beer, Cerveza Negra officially becomes eligible for the trophy following the careful deliberation of a distinguished panel of tasters. The distinction is extended to brands garnering Monde Selection gold medals for three consecutive years.
Cerveza Negra’s latest feat now brings SMB’s Monde Selction Awards collection of International High Quality Trophies to six, on top of its Grand Golds, 126 Golds and 76 Silvers plus other special awards. The brand, known for its full-blooded, flavour-rich taste with creamy foam and caramel tones, is one of eight brands being brewed by the Philippine beer market leader.
The Monde Selection is the oldest and the most prominent award-giving organization in the quality selections for taste and quality, garnering thousands of entries from around 70 countries annually.
